Description
Unwanted facial and body hair is a common problem that can be a source of distress for both men and women. Dermatologists use lasers and light sources to safely and effectively treat larger areas of unwanted hair with minimal patient discomfort and fewer complications than other hair-reduction methods. Most lasers are equipped with a cooling device that reduces the discomfort from the laser light and also protects the top layer of skin from excessive heating and potential changes in pigmentation.
How Does It Work?
LightPod lasers (Neo and V650) represent the state-of-the-art in Nd:YAG lasers, employing its innovative 650-microsecond pulse technology to achieve new levels of efficacy and gentle treatment of laser hair removal. They produce high power laser pulses with a revolutionary 650-microsecond pulse duration, which is shorter than the Thermal Relaxation Time of the skin tissue surrounding the follicle. As a result, the laser-generated heat is effectively sealed within the follicle as it doesn’t have time to conduct outward to the surrounding skin. This results in a substantial increase in treatment efficacy on fair skin and lighter hairs compared to the prior generation of Nd:YAG 1064nm lasers, or even compared to diode and Alexandrite lasers, as clinical research has shown.
It also results in a much higher level of safety and comfort for the treatment of tanned skin or darker skin types, since the laser energy passes through the skin 50 to 500 times faster than those used by traditional long pulse Nd:YAG lasers for hair removal, and does not overheat the epidermal melanin.
