There are countless treatments that promise to relieve the skin of imperfections, like fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, enlarged pores and acne. The same can be said for excessive hair. But very few can truthfully claim that they will produce the results you seek.

BBL™ Technology is a revolutionary approach for aesthetics. The technology has the capability to produce a more youthful and flawless image by changing skin at the molecular level and can reveal smooth skin by evenly heating hair follicles for removal. This one-stop treatment can correct and prevent everything from excessive hair development, fine lines and wrinkles to dark spots and enlarged pores on nearly any area of the body. BBLTM Technology also delivers light energy into the deeper layers of the skin like no other light-based treatment, but it does not require long recovery periods and is safe for most skin types.

BBL™ Technology is an exceptional and versatile treatment that can significantly benefit those unhappy with their acne, lines and wrinkles and hair.

What Is BBL™ Technology?

BBL™ Technology is a non-ablative treatment developed by Sciton, a leader in light-based treatments. Considered the gold standard photorejuvenation therapy, BBL™ Technology utilizes intense pulsed light (IPL) energy that we pass through different filters to rejuvenate the skin.

While laser therapy uses focused beams of light of a single wavelength, IPL energy is characterized by high energy pulses of light of different wavelengths. This characteristic makes it possible for us to treat multiple skin concerns at different layers of the skin.

Treatment with BBL™ Technology is quick, painless and requires no downtime. A typical session takes 15 to 30 minutes, and most patients need three to five treatments to see results.

What Are the Different Types of BBL™ Technologies offered at The Lifestyle Center

At The Lifestyle Center, we carry three types of BBL Technology, each more suited for specific cosmetic concerns than the other. BBL™Technology we offer are:

Forever Young BBL™

Forever Young BBL™ works like other light-based treatments: through controlled heating of the skin. Heating the skin causes micro injury that stimulates collagen and elastin production. This, in turn, removes common signs of aging.

Forever Bare BBL™

Forever Bare BBL™ is a laser hair removal treatment that involves applying the glass surface BBL™ handpiece against unwanted hairs. This handpiece is gently moved around the target area and evenly heats hair follicles, which are then destroyed. The result is smooth, flawless skin.

Forever Clear BBL™

Forever Clear BBL™ is beneficial for acne specifically. The treatment utilizes blue, yellow and infrared light to get rid of acne in addition to any damage acne has caused. The light energy is delivered deep into the skin, targeting the sebaceous glands to remove acne-causing bacteria.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is BBL™ Technology painful?

BBLTM Technology is tolerable for most patients. If necessary, we may apply a numbing cream to minimize discomfort before starting treatment. After treatment, it is normal to experience minor redness and swelling that subsides after a few hours.

What is the difference between corrective BBL® and Forever Young BBL™?

Both technologies were developed by Sciton and both utilize IPL light energy to correct signs of aging. The difference is that corrective BBL® uses a greater amount of energy with fewer passes, while Forever Young BBLTM uses lower level energy using more passes. Some providers prefer corrective BBL® in the beginning of a treatment plan to clear corrections before switching to Forever Young BBLTM for maintenance.

How many treatments will I need?

Most clients need a series of three to five treatments spaced four to six weeks apart. After that, you may need maintenance treatments two times a year. However, how many times you will need to come for touch-ups will depend on how well you take care of your skin and your skin’s natural aging process.

What should I avoid before treatment?

Avoid getting chemical peels and using harsh exfoliants for two to three weeks before your appointment. You will also want to avoid sunbathing, tanning beds and all other forms of tanning for a month before treatment. Stop taking blood-thinning pain relievers and supplements to reduce your risk of bruising and bleeding, e.g. aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E, fish oil and turmeric.

What should I not do after treatment?

Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds for at least two weeks post-treatment. The treated area will be sensitive to sunlight and prone to pigmentation changes, so wearing high SPF is a must. Also avoid cosmetics containing perfumes, exfoliants, abrasives, Retin-A and other harsh ingredients until your skin has completely healed.

How soon will I see the results?

It can take one to two weeks before you notice an improvement in your skin. That is because it takes time for your skin to complete the healing process following this treatment. Your skin should look smoother, more even and tighter following treatment, and you should continue to see gradual improvement over months and years, especially with regular maintenance sessions.

How long will my results last?

Your results will last indefinitely with regular treatment. However, if you plan to have one or two treatments, you can expect your results to last up to 12 months. Good skincare and a healthy lifestyle will help you keep your results longer.

Is BBL™ Technology good for dark skin?

Unlike older IPL technologies, BBL Technology includes a wavelength for medium to moderately darker skin tones. According to Sciton, treatment with this technology is suitable for nearly all skin types, with the exception of deep, type VI skin as there is the risk of uneven pigmentation following treatment.
